the canon 100mm f2.8l is macro lens is great for capturing detailed images of the smallest subjects, boasting a 1:1magnification ratio and 30cm closest focus, as well as a versatile medium telephoto focal length. this focal length gets you nice and close to your subject, even if you are staying back to keep your subject comfortable, which is particularly useful when using the lens to shoot human models, making portraiture another suitable application for this lens.

a bright f2.8maximum aperture allows you to shoot with faster shutter speeds, thus increasing your performance in low-light conditions. it also allows you to experiment with the depth of field in your images, reducing the backgrounds into a total blur if that is your intention. built-in image stabilisation also increases your low-light shooting ability, by reducing the appearance of camera shake and providing you with the opportunity to shoot at lower shutter speeds than you would normally be comfortable using. a premium optical construction which includes one ud element provides sharp and detailed images throughout performance, while with thanks to the lens’ l-series construction, it can be used in more extreme weather conditions, without the risk of damage or diminished performance.
