a budget-friendly and portable option to jettison your portrait photography into another dimension, is the canon 85mm f1.8 usm. first up, this lens is the beneficiary of a prime short-telephoto focal length, which is known to be flattering on facial features, as well as much loved for the space it creates between you and your model. despite this space, the lens still provides a tight-crop, so you wont find yourself rushing closer to frame your shots. also, an essential feature when discussing this lens is the fast f1.8maximum aperture, which is good for handheld shooting, and great for varied depth of field in your images.

any out of focus areas that you produce with this lens and its fast maximum aperture are of a pleasing appearance, thanks to the rounded 8-blade aperture diaphragm. contrast and colour reproduction are excellent, due to canons super spectra coating being applied, which also results in the minimisation of ghosting and flare. a ring-type usm af system is included, which is good news whether your model is still while posing, or on the move, with the fast and quiet manner in which it performs.
