it doesnt cost a fortune to add a high-quality 50mm prime lens to your kit, while the benefits it brings are so big they can hardly be measured. this nikon 50mm f1.8g is a fine example, its premium image quality and compact size is sure to make it a favourite item in your gadget bag and your go-to lens for leisurely walks around town, from now on. when mounted on dx-format nikon dslrs this lens provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of 75mm, which is perhaps even more suited to portraiture, providing a tight head and shoulder crop of your subjects, while you maintain some distance.

with a fast f1.8maximum aperture, this lens can be used as you take an evening stroll, still surprising you with tack-sharp pictures. it also gives you all the tools you need to create eye-catching portraits with sharp foregrounds and natural and smooth background blur, otherwise known as bokeh. with an aspherical element used in the construction, the 50mm f1.8 captures sharp images with coma and aberrations all but eliminated, while nikons super integrated coating reduces flare and ghosting, as well as improving colour accuracy and contrast.
